Living in Leggings!
I don’t know about you, but I have been living in leggings for the last 10 months! Every day of working from home, I choose a different pair with an oversized sweater or sweatshirt and call it an outfit! I love getting dressed up when there’s an occasion or somewhere to go, but truth be told there’s nothing I love more than being comfy! If you’ve been here for a bit, you already know that 😉 It’s hard to share much other than loungewear these days! I’ve tried to wear jeans a few days but there comes a point in the day where I think “what am I doing?!” As I got a few new sweatshirts in and went to put one on this morning, I thought I’d do a quick round up of some of my fav retailers for oversized sweaters and sweatshirts as the cardinal rule when wearing leggings is that your top must cover your booty! Of course there are exceptions and not everyone will feel that way but for me, that is how it goes!
I do shop at the same retailers a lot of the time because I love their styles, fit and affordability. So you’ll see a lot here from Aerie and Old Navy – admittedly that’s also because they’re easy to order from online, and they arrive quickly. We have limited options in the town I live in and especially now with the pandemic I haven’t been venturing out to neighbouring towns as much to find new things! I do apologize in advance for the lighting in these photos. I’m learning the spots in my house that I can take photos in and what time of day is good and bad too! I did these too late in the day so there are some shadows but I wanted to get this post up so I hope you can still get the gist of it!
This is the newest one I got in from Old Navy and I am in LOVE! I am a big fan of anything with a high collar so I love that this one almost comes up to my nose! It comes in a few colours – this blue, black, pink and heather grey. This is a M and I like the fit but would say they fit a bit big so size down if you like! These leggings are Stella & Dot and they don’t make them anymore, but just thought I’d mention. Everyone seems to have their favourite black leggings!
The Aerie Good Vibes sweatshirts are probably my #1 favourite clothing item I own and I’m embarrassed to say how many I have. They’re perfect to throw on with leggings and if they say “oversized”, they mean it! All of mine are a Small because I have ordered my true size Medium in the past and they are definitely big, so keep that in mind at Aerie. These ones are the “cozy” version which basically means they’re an inside out sweatshirt so they’re super fuzzy on the outside. I have in this grey leopard and truth be told, I have the matching joggers to this one for a whole set but I like that I can mix it up with leggings too!
This is also the Aerie Cozy Good Vibes sweatshirt in black but super versatile – looks great with a patterned pair of leggings or half tucked into distressed jeans. These leopard leggings are also from Aerie but now not available – linking a cute alernative here!
I also seem to be obsessing over anything “waffle” right now and have seen this sweater all over the internet this season. It comes in a number of colours too but it’s super soft and cozy, and very oversized. This is a S and I still probably could have sized down another size. I chose this camel colour “Holiday Heather Brown” but I’ve seen it in a number of other colours and they’re all pretty!
Another waffle option is this Aerie Waffle Fleece Oversized Sweatshirt. I wouldn’t really say it’s fleece, but it’s definitely thick and great quality. I haven’t washed it yet so I’m not sure if it’ll stiffen up! I chose this “Smoked Grey” colour but there are lots of options! I also sized down in this one to a S. This one is a bit shorter than the others, just an FYI!
Ok ok, I know at this point it’s very evident that I have a problem with leopard print. I don’t know what it is but I’m so drawn to it and could make a Carol Baskin costume any day with all the leopard I own. In any case, here’s one more haha! The tunic length sweatshirts at Old Navy are great with leggings and always very soft and comfy. This print isn’t available anymore but I’m linking one they currently have, and I’m finding they release new patterns and prints in this same style ALL the time. Keep your eyes open to see what they release! Right now they have this camo, and tie dye and a plain grey! Although these say oversized, I don’t find they’re AS oversized as Aerie. This one is a Small but I think I would have rathered a Medium – they just didn’t have it when I bought this.
This last one is a sweater, and again called “tunic” length at Old Navy. I love the mock neck and it’s very warm. It’s called the Cozy Textured Tunic Sweater and it’s has some pretty knit details on it. I’d been looking for a chunky cream sweater but this also comes in a number of colours if you like something different. This one is a M, and these leggings are from Aerie but not recently. Aerie has TONS of amazing leggings and fun patterns – I’m a big fan.
So there you have it! I hadn’t realized how many I acquired over the fall but these are all in constant rotation for me. A general rule of thumb – patterned leggings and a solid coloured sweater or sweatshirt. Patterned shirt, solid leggings. I think there’s exceptions to this these days with all the matching sets out there – I’m all about pattern on pattern if they go together so don’t be afraid of that either!
As we start out through this very uncertain winter and a LOT of time in the 4 walls of our homes, we might as well be as comfortable as possible! Thank you all for following along and hope this helped you find some new pieces to keep you comfy!
Stay cozy,
Jodi xo

I have the exact outfit you are wearing….the leopard print leggings and black sweatshirt from arie. I agree their oversized is very much so. I’ve sized down and this I should go down one more.
In regards to arie leggings, what do you recommend. I have the ones mentioned above ina couple colours but I’d love some with a bit more support. Maybe a post on face leggings????

Hey Rachel! I have quite a few pairs of the Chill leggings and I love them for their fabric and materials but they aren’t super control top or anything like that. It seems those are on their way out as they’re all on clearance and their new line is all the “Offline” leggings in different styles. I just ordered the Offline High Waisted Hugger leggings so I will let you know what I think of them once they arrive! And yes I should do a leggings post soon!
